Stay here

"The best is yet to come..."

Every time I hear this statement my heart says "the best is right here, wherever you Are, now, no matter what you are living". Living in a daze of "tomorrow will be a better day" stops us from seeing the potentials here today, keeps us from choosing differently now because later it might (just might) be better, hides the precious teaching in each experience, be it whatever it is, perpetuates a state of constant need for more and creates repetitive impatience - a frustrated expectation that things should somehow be different from what they are, never truly acknowledging our own responsibility in changing the way we see each situation, rather than the situation itself.

When living in "the best is yet to come" mode, chances are that "the best" actually finds its way into our reality but slips by totally unnoticed, while we're waiting for something else... not knowing what, though. So it would be good to stop and ask: what is "the best that is yet to come?"

There is much more to reality than our immediate perception offers, but if we keep on diving into tomorrow without living today we constantly miss out on the pure grace of life, on its blessings and on the opportunity to fill our hearts with gratitude, sweet and simple Gratitude for each breath we take.

When we are going through a rough spot on our path, I understand that it might be somehow reassuring to believe that "the best is yet to come", but it cannot possibly come if today's issues remain unresolved in a foggy uncertainty of each event's purpose and, even more importantly, of how it came to be and what our conscious choice is, moment to moment. The faster we land fully in our present reality, the faster we can verify whether it corresponds to our heart's true wisdom (if we want to follow it, of course) and whether we are willing to do what needs to be done in order to change whatever needs to be changed, even if it is just our perspective that needs changing, which is the case more often than not.

Since we are bestowed with Free Will, it is always our choice whether to live from our mind or our heart... yet know that sooner or later it will become clear that there is no other way to achieve fulfilment, abundant joy, true love, harmony and balance but to follow the heart's choices. Then the best will surely be here, always, all ways, no matter what. To the analytic doubting of the mind, nothing will ever be "the best".

The simple things in life's moments are the ones that bring long lasting warmth to a grateful heart.
